This unique documantary film of the SAAB35 Draken, on DVD was produced in 2001. It's about the last two Draken Squadrons at the F10 Wing at Barkåkra, Sweden: The "Johan Blå" and the "Johan Gul".
This film contains, among other things, operations with the Draken on road-bases, interviews with Swedish pilots and Austrian trainees, half the age of the plane they are flying.
In this film you will get a closer look at the airplanes and meet the pilots and the ground crew at an active Swedish flight wing. You will also experience a military excercise on a Swedish war base.
The SAAB 35 Draken flew for the first time in 1955. But already in 1949 SAAB planned for a replacement of the SAAB 29 "Flygande Tunnan" (Flying Barrel). At the F10 Wing at Barkåkra in Sweden the Draken served since 1964, subsequently replaced by the SAAB37 Viggen and finally by the SAAB39 Gripen.
In all a total of 644 Drakens, in differnt versions and upgrades, was built, and appart from Sweden the air force of Austria, Denmark and Finland used this fantastic aircraft.
"Maybe the best Swedish documentary of a flight squadron made on film so far. A splended documentary of the daily work and routines on a Draken division."
/Sven Scheiderbauer, Flygvapenmuseum (The Swedish Airforce Museum in Linköping, Sweden).
This is an official Scandinavian release with Swedish text on the covers.
